Day-by-Day Itinerary

D1Bishkek — Arrival

Arrival in Bishkek. Meet guide and driver at Manas Airport (30 km, 40–50 min to city). After rest, explore Bishkek: Ala-Too Square with views of the snowy Kyrgyz Range, green parks, open-air art gallery, and the Historical Museum.

D2Bishkek → Ala-Archa (40 km) → Bishkek

Acclimatisation day at Ala-Archa Nature Park. This favourite local retreat contains the highest peak in the Kyrgyz Ridge — Semenov Peak of Tien Shan (4,895 m). Walk the gorge, breathe mountain air. Return to Bishkek for overnight.

D3Bishkek → Konorchek Canyons (130 km)

Transfer to Boom Gorge. Trek through a narrow rocky labyrinth that opens into a wide basin of eroded sandstone and clay "castles" shaped over millions of years. Climb to Sulu-Terek pass (2,320 m) for panoramic views. Reach campsite at the Konorchek–Kokzhar-Suu river confluence (1,790 m). 10–11 km on foot.

D4Grand Canyon (1,790 m)

Radial walk through the Grand Canyon, Bobsleigh, and Skyscrapers canyon systems — some requiring squeezing sideways or light scrambling to appreciate their true scale. These names alone tell the story. Overnight in tents.

D5Mt. Sagyzkhan-Choku (2,925 m)

Ascent to Sagyzkhan-Choku mountain (2,925 m) for a bird's-eye view of the canyons. The summit was once the floor of a shallow ancient sea — look for fossilised shell impressions in the rock. Descent to camp. Overnight in tents.

D6Kyzyl-Suu Valley (2,170 m)

Passage to Kyzyl-Suu valley over Kok-Jar pass (2,367 m). Final views of the canyons. Multiple river crossings of Kok-Jar-Suu. Overnight in tents (2,170 m). 13–14 km on foot.

D7Köl-Tor Gorge (2,170 m) → Shamsi

Trek through endless alpine meadows in the Köl-Tor Shamsinsky gorge. Spring is just beginning — first sprouts of grass and wildflowers emerging from the soil. Set up camp for the night. 13 km on foot.

D8Shamsi Gorge → Bishkek (110 km)

Final day of trekking through the Shamsi gorge valley — along slopes of Tien Shan spruce and larch, past honeysuckle and currant thickets, down to an old lake basin. 11 km on foot. Transfer to Bishkek. Overnight at hotel.

D9Departure

Transfer to Manas Airport. End of programme. Return home!
